Assignment or lookup of the Social Security Number

What it is

The Social Security number is unique, permanent, and non-transferable, and it is used to register workers and insured people. You request it if you do not have an NSS, or to locate the one already assigned to you.

Time

Online, the answer is immediate in your email. In person, it takes no more than one hour after you submit the complete documents.

Requirements

• Online you only need your CURP and an email address.
• In person, bring the certified copy of your birth certificate, as an original, for comparison.
• Bring an original current official ID.
• Bring a copy of your CURP.
• If someone represents you, that person must bring the original notarial power of attorney issued by a public notary.

Steps

1. Do it online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with your CURP and your email.
2. If you do it on the internet, the answer arrives immediately at the email you provided.
3. You can also go to the subdelegation or auxiliary affiliation and collection office that corresponds to you.
4. In-person hours are Monday through Friday, on IMSS business days, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
5. At the window, the answer takes no more than one hour after you submit the complete documents.
